Driveway

We poured the driveway in Bevil Oaks yesterday and 4,725 sqft later, this is how it looks.

The homeowner made great use of the trees to create a curved driveway.  He also has access to a future shop (back right of property) to hold his large travel trailer.  Between the massive shade trees and the large driveway, he's set up for minimal mowing.  That's always a plus!

Nottoway foundation

We poured the foundation for the second Nottoway house this morning.  I normally rent a pump truck for these jobs, and this one was no exception.  However, they sent the BIGGEST truck I have ever had.  The smaller ones were already on other jobs.  Talk about over kill!

Awesome "wood" tile!

The Orangefield home is finally getting flooring.  The homeowners chose a really unique tile from Lowe's that looks almost exactly like wood.  I'll admit, some of the "wood" tile doesn't look that great, but this product is awesome!  Thanks Paige, for letting me borrow these pictures.  We'll post more once its finished and cleaned.

Bad Driving Award

So....I told Will that the next time something funny happens, he needs to take a picture so I can put it on the blog.  Well, it seems that its come back to haunt me.  I was dropping off some materials yesterday at Rock Creek Ridge and had a little mishap while backing out of the driveway.  In my defense, there was a piece of wood in the driveway I was trying to avoid, but I guess I avoided it a little too far.  Ooops!    The boys were in the car, and I was scared to death the culvert would give way and we would roll down in there!  I had to go inside and get the A/C guys to pull me out.

Luckily it all ended well.  Within about 15 minutes I was out and headed home.  As we drove away, I asked Evan if he was scared.  He answered, "Yes, Momma.  You are NOT a good driver!"  Oh well, what can I say?  It happens to us all at one time or another.

Armando's Construction

One of the most important parts of building a house is having subcontractors who are experienced and do high-quality work.  This description fits for a local framing crew that has done several projects for Harper Custom Homes.  Here they are hard at work framing the home we are building on Amanda Lane in Lumberton.  The house is one of the larger ones we've done, but this is no problem for Armando.
His crew works very efficiently and keeps a clean jobsite.
Here they are putting up some rafters.  They are also fast and work long hours to keep the job on schedule when rain is in the forecast.
